A couple of years ago, Jared and I went to Ryan and Jenny's New Year's Eve party and some of their friends brought some homemade cream puffs. OH. MY. GOODNESS! They were too die for. I decided after that party that I was going to learn to make some cream puffs.
I had always been afraid to make cream puffs, but girls, they are very easy! The hardest part is trying to decide how big to make the tablespoon fulls on the pan. Just know that they will "PUFF" when baked. Try and make them as round as possible, just kind of like a blob of cookie dough.
Well, this is my most favorite recipe. I tried homemade puddings, boxed puddings, different chocolate frostings. My favorite is my homemade vanilla pudding that will be coming up shortly (this is also delicious just by itself!!!) and then just a chocolate buttercream frosting. I am craving these babies just typing in the recipe.
1 cup water
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup butter
4 eggs
Preheat oven to 425. In a large pot, bring water and butter to a boil. Stir in flour and salt until the mixture forms a ball. Transfer the dough to a large mixing bowl. Using a wooden spoon or stand mixer, beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven, until golden brown. Centers should be dry.
When the shells are cool, either split and fill them with the pudding, or use a pastry bag to pipe the pudding into the shells. Frost with chocolate frosting.
